Yvonne Catherine Hunter (nee Benincasa) peacefully passed into eternal life on March 29 th surrounded by her children.
"Mommy" "Nan" and "GiGi" as she was affectionately known, was beloved by many. Yvonne spent her childhood in North Philadelphia near Connie Mack Stadium where she could hear the roar of the crowds from the Phillies games.
When her family moved to Manayunk she went to St. John's High School. In 1954, she married the love of her life, David Hunter. They were married for 68 years until his passing in September 2022.
Yvonne Hunter raised six children and went on to work at Roxborough Memorial Hospital for nearly twenty years. She enjoyed making crafts and watching old movies, Jeopardy, and British detective shows.
However, Nan's greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She loved taking them all to the beach in Ocean City, NJ where she would sit for hours digging in the sand with them.
Yvonne Hunter's legacy lives on through her six children, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. They include her daughters Donna, (Dennis) Deirdre, Denise,(Michael) Davida, (Thomas) and Danielle and son Darren; grandchildren Doug, Colin, Devin, Courtney, Drew, Derek, Jake, and Dax; and great-grandchildren Iggy, Greta, Charlotte and Mabes. Yvonne was preceded in death by her grandson, Brett.
Nan is remembered adoringly by all for always sending birthday and holiday cards to all her family and friends. The home that she shared with her husband David was everyone's favorite warm and peaceful retreat on holidays, birthdays, and any day of the year.
Mommy, Nan, and GiGi's life was one of love.
