William T. Gross, a retired Philadelphia/Detective police officer (aka "The Crow"), of
43 years passed away on September 27, 2024, at the age of 79, Beloved husband to
wife Irene (nee Klitsch) Gross. Father of William T. Gross, Jr. (Melinda), Carol Ann
Gross-Davis (Hugh), and Irene Burns (Craig). Grandfather of Mary Margaret, Edward
(Evan), and Kathleen Gross, Sophia Davis, Charlotte Gross, Henry Davis, Elizabeth,
Amelia, and Grace Burns, and Loni Gross. Son of the late William and Margaret Gross.
Brother of Joseph Gross (Donna), Nicholas Gross (Claire), Michael Gross (the late
Barbara), Margaret Johnson (the late Bill), Maria Hogan (the late Jack), John Gross
(Cathy), Regina Rocchi (Michael), and Catherine Lydon (Michael). He is also survived
by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his cousin, who was like a brother, Raymond
Miller (Mary).
Bill and Irene were married for 59 years, and currently reside in the Roxborough
neighborhood, and are members of the Church of the Holy Family. Bill was an avid
lover of golf and played with his relatives, friends and ("THE TOADS") whenever
possible, even at times when is health was failing. He also loved being with his family as
they celebrated weddings and birthdays, graduations, you name it, he was there. He
was the kind of person who went places and always seemed to know someone.
He will assuredly be missed by all his family, most significantly, his loving wife, children,
his 10 grandchildren and his siblings, as he was the eldest of the nine children in the
family.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing on Wednesday at Koller Funeral Home,
6835 Ridge Ave. from 6-8 PM. On Thursday, at the Church of Holy Family 234
Hermitage Street, 19127, a Viewing will begin at 9:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow at
10:30 AM. Interment in Calvary Cemetery.
Parking is available behind Holy Family Church off of Fowler Street.
