Thomas P. Corcoran, 86, of Philadelphia, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7th. He was the loving son of Thomas and Mary Corcoran and was raised in West Philadelphia. Tom was a proud graduate of Transfiguration Grade School, West Catholic High School, and Temple University. Throughout his life, Tom had various careers, but one of the most rewarding was his time working for the Philadelphia School District until his retirement. Even after retiring, he continued to work as a part-time substitute teacher until last year. Those who knew Tom will always remember his quick wit and sense of humor, which never failed to bring a smile to those around him. He had a way of lightening the mood and making everyone feel at ease in his presence. Over the last 2 decades Tom's sister, Kathleen lovingly cared for him after a medical issue, showing unwavering dedication and support. Her selfless commitment to his well-being during the past 18 years was a true testament to the strong bond shared between siblings.
Tom was preceded in death by his sisters, Eileen Saunders, Margaret White, and Patricia Charno and is survived by his sister Kathleen Reinecker and brother John Corcoran, Esq. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
Friends and family are invited to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church at 819 E. Cathedral Road, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Friday, April 12 at 9:30 AM. Mass to follow at 10:30 AM. Interment in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
