It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Thomas J. Carl, a devoted father, loving husband, and cherished friend. Born on July 7, 1950, in Philadelphia, PA, Tom was the beloved son of James Carl and Frances Lloyd, who welcomed him into a world where he would leave an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.
Tom grew up in Andorra, where he cultivated a deep love for learning that guided him throughout his life. A proud graduate of Roxborough High School and Mansfield University, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary History. His passion for education flourished as he taught at Masterman High School for many years, inspiring countless students with his dedication and enthusiasm.
After a successful teaching career, Tom ventured into the legal industry, establishing a bail bonds company that he managed for over 25 years. His professionalism and compassion for others highlighted his character, as he consistently balanced his ambitious professional life with an unwavering commitment to his family.
For the past 30 years, Tom shared a beautiful life with his wife, Deborah Carl. Together, they nurtured a loving home filled with laughter and warmth. Tom was a devoted father to Jenn (Brian), Jim (Rachel), and Jill (Nolan), and a beloved stepfather to Jason (Vanessa). He took immense pride in his role as a grandfather, supporting and cheering on his eight grandchildren, Breylan, Teagan, Poppy, Jack, Skylar, Isla, Michael, and Vivian, whom he adored with all his heart. He is also survived by his siblings, Madelyn and Dennis and his nephew, John.
Tom's kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten. He cherished the moments spent with loved ones and was particularly fond of his chocolate Labradors, who brought joy and companionship into his life. Tom will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral services will be held on October 14, 2025, at Koller Funeral Home. A public viewing will commence at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM. He will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 W. Cheltenham Ave., Philadelphia, PA, where family and friends will gather to honor his remarkable life and share in the memories that will forever warm their hearts.
As we celebrate Tom's life and legacy, we hold tight to the love and lessons he shared with us all. May his spirit continue to inspire us, reminding us of the value of family, kindness, and unwavering love.
