Ronald Kryszat Obituary

Ronald (Ronnie) Norman Kryszat, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday February 14, 2021 in his lifelong hometown of Philadelphia.

Born on May 17, 1936 to German immigrants William and Olga (nee Kotschneff), he was one of four children who grew up on Thelma Street in a tightly knit neighborhood in Feltonville. His predeceased siblings were Kurt, Ruth (Dulkowski), and Jeanne (Apple), his fraternal twin. Other family members who predeceased him were his dear wife Hilda (nee Schmidt), niece Susan (Dulkowski) Leonard and brother-in-law Frederick Apple, Sr.

Ronnie and Hilda married in 1967 and shared thirty-one happy years together. He is survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He and his grandson, Mike Shuron (Michelle), were very close. For the last six years of Ronnie's life Mike was his caregiver and companion. His family are deeply grateful.

He was uncle to Fred (Lydia) Apple, Jr., Lynne (Larry) Lombardo and Glenn (Tracy) Apple. He was Great-Uncle to Debbie (Leonard) Figaniak, Luke, Elizabeth, Melody and Christopher Apple and Ryan Lombardo.

A gentleman of few words, Ronnie would smile and nod when his sister, Jeanne, would tell stories of their childhood school days during which they were to wait until their father came home from work before going outside to play as their mother worked the evening shift in a yarn factory. Influenced by his parents' strong work ethic, he worked for Triangle Press before nearly forty years of employment at the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Retirement gave him opportunities to spend time with family as well as try his luck at Harrah's Casino in Atlantic City, NJ and Parx Casino in Bensalem, PA. He would often surprise his twin with prizes from his casino adventures. We were all blessed to have known and loved this soft-spoken, generous and caring man.

Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service on Saturday, February 27 at 11 a.m. at the Koller Funeral Home, 6835 Ridge Ave., Philadelphia. Interment is in Rosedale Memorial Park in Bensalem.
