Robert "Bob" Joseph Bongard Jr.
Robert Joseph Bongard Jr. passed away on July 22, 2024. He was 71 years old. Bob was born in Philadelphia, PA on May 28, 1953. He is survived by his daughter, Kristin Bongard and her partner Jimmy Pettit; son Robert (Beth) Bongard; his grandchildren, Seth and Violet; his brother, Christopher Bongard; and his fiancé and forever love of 14 years, Suzanne Krystopa Smith. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Bob was preceded in death by parents Robert J. Bongard Sr. and Joan H. Bongard (nee Rockenbach), brother James Bongard (Carla) and sister Joni Radick.
Bob proudly served in the Navy from 1972 to 1975, and later embarked on a lifelong mission in the drug and alcohol recovery sector. He owned and opened several successful centers in Florida, dedicating 30 years to the cause. Bob's commitment to aiding those struggling with addiction led him to help others establish and manage their own centers, saving countless lives and restoring many more to health.
Beyond his professional life, Bob was a family man and an enthusiast of life's simpler pleasures. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, Seth and Violet, who brought great joy to his life. A passionate sports fan, he was rarely missed cheering on his favorite teams, the Phillies and the Eagles. Bob's love for travel was evident in his frequent cruises and vacations to Disney World, among other destinations.
After retiring in 2015, he returned from Florida to New Jersey, rekindling his roots and connections in the area. Bob also relished quiet moments, often found sitting on his porch
engrossed in sports content. Koller Funeral Home in Philadelphia, PA, is assisting the family during this time. Bob's life and legacy will be celebrated and remembered for the profound impact he had on his community and the many lives he touched.
Relatives and friends are invited to a greet Bob's family at 10 AM on Saturday August 3rd at The Koller Funeral Home, 6835 Ridge Avenue in Philadelphia PA. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:30 AM. Interment is private.
