Orcilla A. Wilkinson passed away on June 24, 2023 at the age of 74. She is the daughter of the late Rev. Charles Edward and Orcilla Ann (nee Wylie) Wilkinson. Orcilla worked for the School District of Philadelphia and was a longtime educator in Roxborough.
Orcilla's most notable contribution to humanity was her role as a teacher with the school district of Philadelphia for over thirty years in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia where she herself resided and was also educated through her own K-12 years. She then went on to graduate from Beaver College, currently Arcadia. Most of those years of her teaching career were spent at Levering Elementary school, where she not only taught her students the required subjects but introduced them to her own lifelong loves of crafting, gardening, music, sewing, crocheting, and knitting. Many of her fellow neighbors, friends, and congregants were lucky enough to be the recipient of her variety of skills and her beautiful and precise handiwork. Orcilla also gave private lessons in piano and organ to many students. She served as choir director and organist at churches in the Philadelphia area. She doted on and adored her dog Ashley who was her constant companion and protector in her later years. She will always be fondly remembered and appreciated by her friends, neighbors, students, care givers, and fellow congregants.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 1:30 PM at George Washington Memorial Park, 80 Stenton Ave, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.
