With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Marion McGonagle, a cherished mother and friend, who left us on November 30, 2025, just shy of her 101st birthday. Born on December 6, 1924, in Philadelphia, PA, Marion led a rich and full life that touched everyone around her.
Marion, the devoted wife of the late Wendall McGonagle, is survived by her loving son, Robert McGonagle. She was also the proud mother of her late daughter, Patricia McGonagle. Marion's life was centered around her family, and she poured her heart into caring for them with an open heart and a well-stocked kitchen, where she found joy in cooking and baking. Her collection of cookbooks was a testament to her passion for creating delicious meals that brought everyone together.
From a young age, Marion demonstrated an unwavering work ethic, beginning her work career just 16 years old. She was proud to have worked at her family-owned food market, Angelo and Josephine's, on Main Street in Manayunk. Her creativity and talent later flourished as she became the proud owner of her own beauty salon, aptly named Marion's. Her artistic touch and warm personality left an indelible mark on her clients and colleagues alike.Marion took immense pride in her home, finding comfort in its familiar surroundings. She would often prefer the quiet of her cozy abode to bustling venues, where she could savor moments of tranquility.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Marion's life and legacy during her funeral services. A public viewing will take place at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on December 5, 2025, starting at 10:00 am. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am. Interment in Westminster Cemetery.
As we remember Marion, let us hold close the many fond memories, her loving spirit, and the countless lives she changed with her kindness and culinary delights. She will be deeply missed but will forever remain in our hearts.
