It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marie R. George, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left this world on May 12, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on August 17, 1928, in Philadelphia, PA, Marie spent her life nurturing her family with unwavering love and dedication.
Marie was the devoted wife of the late Robert J. George Sr. and a cherished mother to Millet R. (Lynda), Robert J. Jr. (Lucille), and Stephen (Donna) George. She was a proud grandmother to Lucy Marie Powers, Christine Alessandrini, and Bobby George, Lisa Carpenter, and Joshua Radcliff, and a loving great-grandmother to Violet, Isabella, Eva, Brielle, Willow, Devon, Stefan, and Kira. She is also survived by her sister Rita Kondan. Each member of her family brought immense joy to her life, and she took great pride in her role as their matriarch.
The daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Santoro, Marie was predeceased by her siblings Ann, Carl and Ralph Santoro. Throughout her life, she exemplified kindness and generosity, often gathering her family together around the dinner table, where her exceptional culinary skills shined. Her ability to create delicious meals brought warmth and comfort, and her love for cooking was only matched by her love for her family. Above all, Marie treasured the moments spent with her loved ones, crafting memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
Her Viewing will be held on Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 819 E. Cathedral Road beginning at 9:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 AM. Interment in Westminster Cemetery.
As we remember Marie, let us carry her spirit of love, warmth, and care into our own lives. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
