Leroy Kronmiller Obituary

Leroy "Lee" Kronmiller, husband of the late Norma Lee (nee Miller), Korean War Vet. Father of Charles L. Kronmiller (Diane), Suzanne Rayner (Michael) and Lois Priore (Michael). Also survived by 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  

Lee played baseball and football for Roxborough High School from 1946 through 1949.  He was captain of the JV football team in 1947 and co-captain of the varsity eleven in 1949.  In 1949, he was honorable mention All Public as a quarterback and safety.  He was a sixty minute man and never missed a game due to injury,. Lee played football and baseball for Port Royal AC. His football career with the Royals spanned eight years from 1944 through 1952. 

In 1947, he was named the North Philadelphia Cooperative League's MVP and was runner-up for MVP in 1948. In 1956, Lee had a free agent tryout with the Philadelphia Eagles. He turned to coaching and coached baseball in the 21st Ward Junior and Senior Leagues for nine years and his teams won six championships during that time. He coached the Roxborough Eagles football teams for 13 years.  His team won two 21st Ward Junior Football League titles and in 1971.His 115 pound team went undefeated to win the Keystone State Football League, and in 1975 they won the division title. Lee coached the Eagles 140 pound football team in 1979.  He has served as an assistant coach for Roman Catholic HS eleven and as defensive coach for the Ridge Raiders Football Club. At the time of his death he was head coach of the Philadelphia Hawks in the East Coast Semi Pro Football League. He was presented the Knight of Columbus Award in 1968 and was the Roxborough Eagles Man of the Year in 1979. 

In 1984 he received the meritorious service award of the Summit Chapter, Pennsylvania Hall of Fame.

Relatives and friends are invited to Viewing on Tuesday, September 3 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Koller Funeral Home, 6835 Ridge Ave., Philadelphia. A Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment private.
