Josephine N. Mellor Kaminski, affectionately known as "Sissie," left this world on November 21, 2025, at the age of 97. Born in Philadelphia, PA, on August 16, 1928, Sissie lived a vibrant life filled with love, laughter, and countless joyful moments. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Kaminski, the love of her life, and an extraordinary mother to Frances Chipley (the late Joe), and the late Terry Pirolli (Mark) and John Kaminski (Lynda).
As a devoted grandmother, Sissie took immense joy in her grandchildren, including Brandi Pace (Rich), Rob Jacob (Kelly), Christy Morrell (Chris), Erin Findlay (John), Joe McCann (Jess), and Holly Nelson (Dan). Her heart swelled with pride as she watched her grandkids flourish, showering love on her great-grandchildren: John, Julia, Gabby, Alexis, Brian, Tori, Holly, Patrick, Emma, Jacob, Justin, Alex, Eli, Daniel, Andy, and Aaron, as well as the late Danny. She also loved visits with her great-great-grandchildren: Kenleigh, Colton, and Evelyn.
Born to the late James Hilton Mellor and Josephine G. Riggs, Sissie was raised in the close-knit community of Roxborough/Manayunk, where she formed enduring bonds with her large family of siblings. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her warmth and humor.
Sissie's enthusiasm for life was infectious. An avid crossword puzzler, Phillies fan, and devoted Hallmark Movie Channel viewer, especially during the holidays, she brought joy to any gathering.
Although her culinary skills may not have been celebrated, she was renowned for her incredible hoagies - a family secret recipe that will be kept under wraps. The real recipe for her happiness, however, was simple: spending time with her family.
We invite you to celebrate Josephine's incredible life at her graveside service on November 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Westminster Cemetery. Let us come together, reminisce, and honor her memory in the spirit she embodied. It's not a "goodbye" but a "so long for now"; it's a chance to share stories and remember the joy she brought into all our lives.
Rest in peace, Sissie. Your legacy of love will forever live on in our hearts.
Family and friends are asked to gather at the front gates of Westminster Cemetery on Wednesday at 10:45 . We will proceed to the gravesite together.
