Joseph Anthony Brignola of Philadelphia, PA passed away on October 5, 2023 at the age of 79. Born March 19, 1944, he was the son of the late Anthony and Carmella Brignola. Joseph was married to Mary (Mower) for 50 years residing in Roxborough. He is survived by his daughters, Theresa Kehler (Glen) and Kate Washlick (Joseph); 5 grandchildren: Emma Rose Corcoran, Russell Joseph and Suzanne Elizabeth Kehler, JT and AJ Washlick. Also survived by his beloved sister Genevieve Petrucco (Richard); sister-in-law Ann Mower (Thomas) and brother-in-law William Goodavage (Patti) as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
Joe grew up in South Philadelphia, graduating from St. John Neuman High School in 1962. He attended the Philadelphia Police Academy graduating in 1965, was promoted to Detective in 1970, and proudly served the City of Philadelphia for 24 years. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his lifelong passion for Philadelphia Sports, his love for Penn State football, and his numerous funny stories.
Relatives and Friends are invited to visit the family Thursday morning at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church from 9-11am. A Memorial Mass to follow at 11am. Interment to be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joseph's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
