John J. Romano, Sr.

John J. Romano Sr., retired Detective Philadelphia Police Department passed away on February 12, 2025 at the age of 85. He is the husband of Kathleen (nee Coyle) Romano. Father of John J. Jr. (Maria Termini-Romano), Christopher (Jennifer), Kristin Romano, Laurel Doran (Edmond), and Kate Birster (Wayne). Grandfather of John III, Sofia, Louis, Miranda Romano (Frank Campisano), Madison Toomey (Dan), 1Lt US Army Julia Romano (Sgt. US Army Ryan Mitchell), Sgt. USMC Morgan (Sgt. USMC Ret. Shelby), Habtamu "Tommy", Jacob Wilson, SSgt AF Max Wilson (Hope), Grace Coyle, Maura Coyle, Delaney Myers (Matt), Alexa Doran (Ian Birdwell), Owen Doran, Brian Leposki Jr., Isabella, Jackson, and Matthew Birster. Great Grandfather of Avery Myers and Eliza Jane who is on the way. Son of the late Eugene and Carmella Romano. Brother of Nancy Cusack, the late Eugene Romano (Patricia), and Catherine Kalman (Helmut). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing on Wednesday evening 6-8 PM at Koller Funeral Home, 6835 Ridge Ave. On Thursday, beginning at 9:30 AM, a Viewing will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 819 E. Cathedral Road. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 AM. Interment in Calvary Cemetery.
