It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John L. Garvey, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on March 25, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on July 12, 1946, in Philadelphia, PA, John spent his life dedicated to his family and his work. He was a proud Army veteran and served his country with honor.

John's career as a railroad conductor spanned an impressive 42 years, working for various esteemed railroads, including Pennsylvania, Penn Central, Conrail, and Amtrak. His dedication and passion for his work were evident, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and riders alike.

A dedicated husband of 57 years to Gerri Garvey, John was a man whose world revolved around his family. He is survived by his son John and daughter-in-law Sonja, and will be forever remembered by his grandchildren, Pippa and Hunter.

A proud member of the AOH Notre Dame Montgomery County and the Moose Lodge #1147 in Wellsboro, PA, John was known for his friendship, humour and willingness to help anyone in need. A Legendary Pennsylvania Hunter, Garv was passionate about the Big G Camp which he founded and built in 1979 which generations of Garvey's have and continue to enjoy.

John's family will greet friends and family on April 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Koller Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 AM. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate his remarkable life, reflecting on the love and joy he brought to all.

As we grieve the loss of John, we hold onto the cherished memories he created and the legacy of love he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed but will forever remain in our hearts.
