John Fletcher Ford, a devoted U.S. Navy officer and cherished family man, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, at the age of 98. Born on August 22, 1927, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, John led a life marked by honor and dedication, both in service to his country and to his family.
John was the proud husband of the late Mary Ford (nee Monaghan) and a loving father to Jeffrey (Mary) and Dennis (Karen). He took great joy in being a grandfather to five grandchildren, who will forever remember him for his warm heart and playful spirit.
John carried with him the values instilled by his parents, Fletcher and Margaret Ford, both of whom predeceased him. He is also predeceased by his sisters, Catherine Everet and Margaret Tropio, whose companionship brought him comfort and joy throughout his life.
A distinguished career in the U.S. Navy saw John rise to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, a title he wore with pride, reflecting his commitment to service and leadership. His legacy will be remembered not only by his family but also by those whose lives he touched during his military service.
Interment in Beverly National Cemetery will be on Thursday, April 23rd, 2026 at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Research Hospital in honor of John's memory, ensuring that his legacy of compassion continues to make a difference in the lives of others.
John's life was a testament to love, service, and family. He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
