Joan M. (Kern) DeMalto

Joan M. "Gramie" DeMalto passed away on July 27, 2023 at the age of 86. Wife of Joseph C. "Moose" DeMalto. Mother of Leonard DeMalto (Lisa), Karen Barr (John), Anthony DeMalto (Suzanne), Thomas DeMalto (Holly), Christine DeMalto, and the late Donna DeMalto. Grandmother of John Barr (Michelle), Jessica Highland (Laura), Leonard, Nicholas (Stephanie), Emily (Anthony Gaeta), Grace, Daniel, and Julia DeMalto. Great Grandmother of John Jr. and Max Barr, Noah and Avery Jackson, Willa Highland, and Owen and Brody DeMalto. Daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Kern. She is also survived by many dear friends.
Joan was a lifelong resident of the Roxborough/Wissahickon neighborhoods, a graduate of St. Mary of the Assumption Grade School and St. John the Baptist Girls High School for Girls. Joan was soon to meet the love of her life, "Moose" DeMalto and has been married almost 66 years since. She was an active member of the IHM Senior Group and the 21st Ward Senior Group where she met lifelong friends who will miss her dearly. While cheering and following hers kids and grand-kids sports teams she became an avid Phillies and Eagles fan, never missing a game and always ready for a victory party. Joan loved the shore, Christmas time and all its carols. She will always be known for crocheting special Christmas stockings for all family members. The one thing we will always remember is her birthday calls and song, never missing a one or a beat.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing on Tuesday, August 1st beginning at 9:30 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church 819 Cathedral Road, Philadelphia. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 AM. Interment in Westminster Cemetery.
