It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James J. Dornan, a cherished husband, brother, and proud Navy veteran, who left us on September 19, 2025, at the age of 78.
Born on December 11, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, James lived a life defined by dedication, love, and a steadfast commitment to his family and community.James devoted 37 years of his career to the Budd Company as an inspector in the automobile manufacturing industry, where his keen eye for detail contributed to the safety and reliability of countless vehicles. Throughout his life, he had a passion for sports, particularly the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, and often shared joyful moments cheering on his teams with family and friends.
In 1975, James married his beloved wife, Eleanor Dornan (nee Garonski). Their enduring love and partnership spanned an incredible 50 years, filled with laughter, adventures, and memories that will forever warm the hearts of those who knew them. James was a devoted family man and is survived by his wife, Eleanor, as well as his brother, Bill Dornan (Helen Kuech), and his sister, Marie Malervy. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
As a proud Navy veteran, James served his country with honor, a chapter of his life that he carried with pride and humility. His service and sacrifice left a lasting impact on those around him, continuing his legacy of integrity and dedication.
James's life will be commemorated with a celebration of his spirit and contributions to all who loved him. His Viewing will be held on Friday, September 26th at 9:30 AM at Holy Family Church, 234 Hermitage Street, Manayunk. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather to pay their respects and share in the memories of a remarkable man who touched so many lives. Interment in Westminster Cemetery.
Jim will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate to know him.
