It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George J. Granato, beloved husband, father, and cherished friend, who left this world on April 5, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on October 3, 1954, in Philadelphia, PA, George dedicated his life to his family and his work in information technology, serving as the IT Director for the Philadelphia Police Department.
George was the loving husband of Barbara Granato and a devoted father to his daughters, Jennifer Granato (Taylor Vincent) and Kimberly Collins (Shawn). He was predeceased by his parents George and Yolanda Granato. He is survived by his sister Teresa Granato and brother Michael Granato (Joan). His family was his pride and joy; he took immense satisfaction in being a supportive husband and an encouraging father.
As a family archivist, George had an unparalleled passion for documenting the history and stories that shaped his loved ones. Whether it was dedicating countless hours to building an extensive family tree or using his technology skills to digitize precious family photos and videos, he worked to ensure that the legacy of those he loved would endure for generations to come. In his younger years, George often spent his nights working as a DJ and instilled an affinity for music in both of his daughters.
George was well-known for his warm, welcoming nature, and his ability to connect with everyone he met. His social spirit and genuine kindness earned him lifelong friendships throughout his community.
George's legacy will be honored with a Visitation on April 9, 2026, at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish where family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate his remarkable life and share cherished memories. The internment will be private with family only.
In this difficult time, we take comfort in knowing that George's loving spirit will remain in our hearts forever. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be sent to Spring Mill Pointe in George's memory.
