Gary C. Gill

Gary C. Gill passed away on August 23, 2024 at the age of 67. Beloved son of the late James E. and Margaret E. (nee Scheid) Gill. Brother of Susan Gill (Mark), Jeffrey Gill (Kathy), Shelly Pester (Michael), and Christopher Gill (Jessica). Uncle to Christopher Pester (Jessica), Ryan Gill, Shawn Pester, and Mark Ciarelli. Gary is also survived by a great niece and nephew, and many cousins.

Gary grew up and lived in the Roxborough area of Philadelphia, attending the HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy where he was a resident from 1962-1963 and where he learned to walk, the Widener Memorial School, Levering School and Roxborough High School from where he graduated in 1976. After high school he was a client of United Cerebral Palsy/Blossom Philadelphia, where he remained until its closure in 2018. During that time Gary was also employed at the Eric/United Artist theater in Roxborough. Gary went on to attend the day programs at Interact in Roxborough and Helping Hands in Bechtelsville PA.

Despite challenges, Gary led a full active life. He enjoyed and excelled at bowling, winning many trophies and ribbons over the years. He also enjoyed movies, weekend trips and outings with his social group, listening to music and watching television.

Relatives and friends are invited to Gary's viewing on Saturday August 31st from 9 to 11 AM with a funeral service to follow at the Koller Funeral Home, 6835 Ridge Ave., Phila. 19128. Interment in Westminster Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd.

This scholarship fund was set up in memory of Jim Derbyshire, Gary's beloved cousin, to benefit the educational needs of children with disabilities or children who have lost a parent.
