Franklin Wong passed away on August 19, 2023 at 100 years old, just 2 weeks shy of his 101st birthday. Frank was a brother to Quincy, Mabel, and Jimmy. He was the husband of Norma C. Wong (nee Sanchez), father to Sophia, Susan, Frank, Allen, and Robert. He was the proud Grandfather of Cyrus, Zoe, Julianna, Jeremy, Kiana, Makena, Joshua, Gabriella, Virginia, Charlotte, and Cecilia.
Frank volunteered for the military and joined the US Army in the fall of 1942; he served as a cryptographer during WWII until 1946. When he returned home, he worked hard to provide for his entire family, eventually retiring from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company when he was 65. Frank was a dedicated husband and father, who loved his grandchildren and loved cooking for family and friends. During parties or family get togethers, you could always find him in the kitchen, determined to keep making wonderful dishes so that no one left hungry. He was a quiet man who spoke little but was always the person you could count on. He loved making his grandchildren laugh. He is missed.
A memorial service will be held on September 9th at 2PM at Epic Church in Roxborough (6035 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19128). All are invited to share a meal together after the service.
