Gene was born on May 27, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Eugene and Helen (nee Haggerty) Coghlan.
Gene was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was a firefighter with the city of Philadelphia, where he earned the Heroism Award, before going on to start a landscaping business.
He was a member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles, the VFW, American Legion, the Moose Lodge and The Elks.
In retirement Gene enjoyed traveling, stamp collecting, playing cards and a Sambuca or two.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, James Thomas Coghlan; his daughter, Sherry Kikoliashvili; granddaughter, Monique Nicole Grimaldi and sister, Mary Ellen Rinaldi.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Barbara; his children, Jacqueline Denyes, Rose-Ann Coghlan, Mark Coghlan and Eugenia Ciccolone (Joseph); step children, Gregory Hart (Susan) and Wendy Nadjek; his siblings, Margaret Mucha, Thomas Coghlan (Tina), James Coghlan (Rita), Kathleen Crispo (Joseph) and Carol Ann Feliccitti (Louis); as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 11:00 am at Koller Funeral Home, 6835 Ridge Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19128. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his memory may be made to a veterans organization of donors choice.
