Charles Fuges Obituary

Charles T. Fuges, beloved father, husband, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 16th at the age of 85. His three children, Rene', Charles and Jason were together at his side in his final days, sharing stories, listening to his favorite music, watching his favorite movie, praying, enjoying quiet moments, and experiencing a deep sense of peace as they lovingly accompanied him towards his passing. Born on February 17, 1940, Charles lived a life marked by deep faith, devotion to family, and selfless service to others.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Charles served his country honorably and was discharged on September 27, 1965. His sense of duty and integrity carried through every chapter of his life.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Elizabeth Fuges; his wife, Geraldine (Wolford) Fuges; and siblings Harry (Bud), Betty, Jim, Jack, and Robert (Bob). He is survived by his loving children: Rene' Marie Peoples (Bill), Charles Harry Fuges (Lisa), and Jason Edward Fuges (Josh). He was a cherished grandfather to Colin Michael (23), Grace Ann (21), and Ava Catherine (16). He also leaves behind his sisters Dolores Hughes and Janet Stone, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Raised in the Catholic faith, Charles attended Saint Martin of Tours School, Father Judge High School, and earned his degree in Business Administration from Drexel University. His devotion to the Church was unwavering-he served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, organized parish literature, and visited the elderly in hospitals, always giving back to his community.

Professionally, Charles began his career at Philco and later became a respected Human Resources leader at Sun Oil & Refining Company, where he specialized in benefits and compensation until his early retirement in the mid-1990s.

Charles' passions were many: boating, fishing, crabbing, waterskiing, and vacationing at the Jersey Shore. He loved Philly sports-especially the Phillies and Eagles-and had an eclectic taste in music. Family gatherings, Sunday dinners, and spirited games of darts and football with his brothers were among his happiest memories. He was also a true lover of good food, especially ice cream.

The Fuges family extend heartfelt gratitude to a special group of caregivers: Mindy, Susan, Kathy, and Amanda for the extraordinary love, compassion, and dedication they showed through years of devoted care. Their kindness, patience, and unwavering support brought him comfort, happiness, dignity, and genuine companionship. Finally, a special group of current & former neighbors and friends- Heather, Dave, Laura, Mike, Dan, Aidan, Lucy, Eleanor & Chrissy-showed extraordinary kindness and compassion in supporting Charles, stepping up with a steady helping hand during difficult times. The Fuges family will always be deeply grateful for the respect and warmth they all shared with him and with the Fuges family. Their care made a lasting and meaningful difference in his life.

Charles will be remembered for his deep faith, his devotion to family, and his zest for life. His legacy lives on in the love he shared and the values he instilled.
