Carmella, known by Chickie to many, spent much of her early life surrounded by the aroma of fresh-baked Italian rolls, bread and tomato pies. She was often seen working at the family-owned Consolo Bakery, serving customers with a warm and welcoming smile. This kind and gentle manner is what she carried throughout her life. Carmella was known for her tender heart and benevolent smiles that she shared with so many throughout each day of her life.
Carmella is a 1954 graduate of Roxborough High School and enjoyed a successful career working at Wells Fargo Bank in downtown Philadelphia. She also spent much time volunteering with Catholic Charities and many other organizations during her lifetime.
Carmella loved spending time with her family and friends. She always enjoyed shopping, having lunch or dinner with family and friends, and sharing a good, sweet treat such as donuts, cookies, or cake, and a warm cup of coffee or tea with all. However, there is nothing in her life compared to the love she had for her family, friends, and neighbors. She was happiest spending time with all and cherished each moment, especially those with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carmella will be remembered for her unwavering love, her warm heart, her kind and gentle ways, and love for her family, friends, and neighbors - a love that will continue to live on through them always.
