Betty Engle was born in Pottstown, PA in 1933 and passed away in her home in Jacksonville Beach, Florida on April 25, 2021. She was raised in Royersford and Wyomissing, PA. She graduated as an RN from Albright College, earned a Master Degree in Public Health Nursing from NYU and later another Masters of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.. Whether working as an RN in hospitals, driving changes in public health in Maryland while a homemaker, or ministering to congregations, she always served others in her work.
She was also an adventurer who loved travel. She traveled throughout Europe after graduating from Albright, and lived in San Francisco, New York City, the Panama Canal Zone, and Munich, Germany. After settling in Columbia, Maryland, she traveled with her family to Europe, the Caribbean, Canada, and almost every U.S. state. She was always game for adventure including parasailing, hot air ballooning, and boating. Later in life, she traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Peru.
Betty was predeceased by her loving parents, Leslie and Ruth Engle and is survived by son Eric Flohr (Amy), her daughter Mindy Mensch (Nelson), grandchildren Michelle and Spencer Flohr, Kimberly Lurty, Steven Wells, and Joseph Mensch as well as three great-grandchildren and many beloved cousins.
A viewing and service will be held May third at 10:30 AM at Koller Funeral Home, 6835 Ridge Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19128 with burial following at Westminster Cemetery, Belmont Ave, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
