Obituary

William J. Turner, Jr, 84, Passed away peacefully on December 13, 2023. He was the loving Father of Will Turner, Jennifer Foster (John) and Chris Turner (Kate). Pop Pop to Megan Turner, Christopher Turner (Maddie), Kaitlin Turner, Sean Foster, Ashlyn Foster and Brady Foster. Great-grandfather of Mason Kuchar, Nina Neel, Avery and Blayke Turner. He was the Son of the late William J. and Mary E. Turner. Brother of Margaret O'Connell and the late Patricia Connors and Mary Dolores Barrouk. He is also survived by his companion Theresa Jupin and many nieces, nephews and friends. Bill was born and raised in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia and a parishioner of the now closed,St. Mary's of the Assumption Church. He served his country in the US Navy and was Honorably Discharged He was employed by the City of Philadelphia as a Lieutenant on the Philadelphia Fire Department for 35+ years. He also worked part time at Blanken Yarn Co and later as an exterminator for Joe Tinneny. After retirement, Bill moved to Cape May, and not one to sit still, he joined the bakery department at the Acme Market in North Cape May. While living down the shore, Bill formed many life long friendships, and will be missed dearly. Bill loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, usually the highlight of his summer, when he could be seen jumping waves in the ocean or walking the boardwalk looking for the perfect ride or game! When the grandkids weren't visiting, you could find Bill hanging out with his friends in North Wildwood, going on trips to Florida, cruising the islands or fishing in Key West. He was a member of numerous organizations including VFW's, DAV, Elks and many more. He was also an avid supporter of all Philadelphia sports. Relatives and friends are invited to Viewing on Monday, December 18th from 6-8 PM at Koller Funeral Home. On December 19 a Viewing will be held at 9:30 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 819 E. Cathedral Road, Philadelphia. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30. Interment in Calvary Cemetery.
