Valerian L.
Wasilewski
Nov 7, 1937 — Aug 20, 2022
Valerian Lawrence Wasilewski (a.k.a. Val or Mr. Dottie), 84, passed on August 20, 2022, at Lankenau Hospital while holding the hands of his most beloved daughter and grandson. Valerian was born in Manayunk and remained in the Manayunk/Roxborough area his entire life. He was the son of Walter and Sofie (Bailous) Wasilewski and the youngest of five siblings (Edward, Alexander, Alfred, and Regina). He married his childhood sweetheart he met at age 13, the late Dorothea (Peters), on October 27, 1961, and they shared more than 67 devoted years together. Valerian was the most incredible and devoted father to his most loved and "chosen" daughter Jennifer Wasilewski-Brady (a.k.a. Foo) and proud and unconditionally loving "Dziadz" (Polish for Grandpop) to his only grandchild and best buddy Nicholas Brady (a.k.a. Boo). Valerian was also the proud Godfather of four Godchildren, as well as a loyal and caring friend, uncle, mentor, neighbor, and "role model" to countless others. Valerian was a proud Navy Veteran who was stationed in Italy on the USS Forrestal aircraft carrier during most of his service. Valerian's occupation was as an Architect and eventually an Electrical Engineering Manager at Ajax Electrical Company in Huntingdon Valley, Pa. Valerian will be fondly remembered as an active and faithful parishioner and long-time Vestry Member of Saint Alban's Church on Ridge Avenue and an almost famous participant of over 75 annual Fourth of July parades. Val was also very well-known in the community being spotted almost daily (and often with his best buddy) in his retirement years at 7-11, Dunkin Donuts, and the Lottery Store in Ivy Ridge. He will forever be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit and for always showing patience, kindness, generosity, and love towards others. The Service and Interment will both be private. A "Celebration of Life" luncheon will be arranged for a later time for family and friends to gather and share memories in his honor. Condolences may be shared at www.kollerfuneralhome.com
