Sophie V. LaPera, age 74, died peacefully on August 14, 2019 at the Wesley Stapeley Residence. Sophie was born May 29,1945, in Philadelphia, PA, The daughter of Thomas and Sophia Sutch. Sophie was a proud graduate of Hallahan High School.

In 1964, Sophie married the love of her life, James LaPera, Sr. They moved to Belmont Hills, PA where they raised their four children. She was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother. In addition to raising their four children she also worked at the Cresson Inn in Manayunk,  as well as the Marriott Corporation in Radnor where her love for cooking flourished.

Sophie was often found surrounded by her grandchildren, playing cards or watching any one of the Philadelphia sports teams play.

Sophie is survived by her brother, Thomas Sutch and her children, James, Jr. (Denise) LaPera of Brookhaven, PA, Kathleen LaPera, Philadelphia, PA, David LaPera, Philadelphia, PA  and Karen (Anthony) Dutkiewicz of Drexel Hill, PA; and her loving grandchildren: Leah, Patrick, James, Matthew, Rebecca, Daniel, Julia, Emily and Samantha. She also leaves behind numerous relatives and close friends.

Viewing  to be held on Tuesday, August 20th from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Koller Funeral Home followed by  Funeral Service at 11:00 am.  Interment at Westminster Cemetery.
