Rodney Eugene Foy, of Roxborough, Philadelphia passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Chestnut Hill Hospital, he was 66 years old. Rodney was born on March 11, 1956 in Long Branch, New Jersey, the son of the late Betty Norflett. Rodney was raised in Asbury Park, New Jersey where in his adulthood he proudly served in the Asbury Park school district for many years. Rodney retired from the state Department of Corrections, where he served 25+ years working in juvenile detention centers. He was very active in the community and enjoyed helping others whenever possible. Rodney leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Valerie Foy and two adult children, Rodney L. Foy of Philadelphia, PA and Taryn L. Foy of Conshohocken, PA. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and members of the communities in which he served. Since the fall of 2020, Rodney battled a rare type of blood cancer (multiple myeloma) and shortly before his death he contracted Covid-19. He ultimately died of natural causes. During his battle he found strength in the unyielding care from his wife, staying active, and spending time in nature with his grand-dog Charlie. While not a Philadelphia native, he was a lifelong fan of all Philly sports teams, and he enjoyed going to Eagles and Phillies games with his children. Memorial services are private.
