Richard, "Ricky," "Rick," "Mr. June" Joseph Gilbert , died on March 9th 2016 at 2:45 pm in Nazareth Hospital of complications from stroke, diabetes and heart disease. Most recently a resident of Northeast Philadelphia, Rick previously lived in Roxborough and Manayunk for many years. He grew up in Port Richmond, Philadelphia, attended Mastbaum Technical High School, and Community College of Philadelphia.

Born June 22, 1949 in Philadelphia, he is survived by his mother, Mary Jean Kober, his daughter Lyndsi; brother George (Elaine), sister Veronica (Michael); nieces Desire and April; nephews Paul, Josh, Sam, John (Kristy); great-nephew Jack and great-niece Maggie.  He was predeceased by his step-father, Philip "Butsy" Kober.

Among Rick's jobs were working in the mental health field as a psychiatric aide, followed by several years working in retail photographic equipment sales and as a studio photographer.  He recently retired from Community College of Philadelphia, after working for 36 years as Audio-Visual Technical Specialist.

A child of the 60's Rick went to Woodstock and still has the mud-covered tent he slept in the summer of 1969.  A bibliophile, a cinemophile and a lover of classic television shows, Rick lived surrounded by books, magazines and movies. He was a gifted photographer, and had encyclopedic knowledge of film, music, programming, audio-mixing and sound design.  His passion for movies and tv shows was contagious and influential; he created many happy times for his family throughout his life.
