Obituary

Patrick Canavan, of New York City (formerly of Philadelphia) passed away peacefully with family by his side on February 21st. Pat is survived by his sisters Mary Lederer (Thomas), Kara Ulatowski (Terry), Eileen Canavan (Keith), and Megan Natale; his brothers Brendan, John (Jackie), Neil (Heather) and his numerous loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Francis and Cecilia Canavan.

Patrick was the Head Squash Professional at the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan, NY. Pat played on the WPSA tour, where he was a longtime top 30 ranked player. In addition to playing and teaching squash, he enjoyed traveling, golfing, cooking, and being in Sea Isle with his family. Pat will be greatly missed by his family, cousins, and his cherished family-like friends of New York and beyond. Funeral services will be Friday February 28th at St. John the Baptist Church, 146 Rector Street, Philadelphia, PA. Viewing will be 9:00am to 10:15am with a Mass to follow at 10:30am. Donations in Pat's memory can be made to SquashSmarts in Philadelphia or City Squash in New York. Both programs introduce inner city youth to the game of Squash.
