Mary Lillian Downey, 81, December 17, 2023. Mother of Terry Downey-Freiman (Russell) and the late William Richard Downey, Jr. Grandmother of Ryan William Downey, Evan Michael Freiman, Ashley Kerns, Emily DiPadova, and Bianca DiPadova. She is predeceased by her ex-husband, the Bill Downey. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Elmer & Marie Hentges and sister to the late John "Buddy" Hentges. Mary will be fondly remembered as the "cool Mom" to her children's friends and for her days as the waitress "with all the pins" at Denny's Restaurant in Andorra. Mary enjoyed taking care of everyone she met and was an extremely hard worker raising two kids on her own. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her - especially her daughter Terry, who always saw her Mom as her one and only Hero. Due to Mary's love of butterflies, a Butterfly Memorial Release will take place in warmer weather at a later date in Memory of Mary. Mary's family would like to extend thanks and appreciation for the outstanding care that she received at Suburban Woods Health & Rehabilitation Center in Norristown, PA - a special thank you to her "BFF" nurse, Chrissy Harrison. Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 6th, 2024 at Koller Funeral Home, 6835 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia. A Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment is in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary's name to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) .
