On Saturday, August 7, 2021, Larry Makarewicz passed away at age 72. Larry was born on July 15, 1949 in Scranton, PA.  He graduated Cardinal Dougherty High School in Philadelphia in 1967, where he met his high school sweetheart and future wife, Dee.  He served in the Air Force in Fairchild, WA for four years and married Dee (Maguire) in 1972.  They raised three children, Vicki, Brian and Julia in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. Larry worked in the heating and air conditioning service industry for over 40 years, but his priority was always his family.  He loved cars, especially his 1957 Chevy Bel Air and NASCAR, photography, gardening and traveling.  He truly enjoyed being "Grumps" to his grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Bernadine Makarewicz-Williams, and his father, Anicetus Makarewicz.  He is survived by his wife, Dee, his three children, Vicki Clark (Bob), Brian and Julia VanTuyl (Erick), his 5 grandchildren, Benjamin, Joshua, Eleanor, Everett & Wyatt, his sister, Barbara (Bill) and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation hour on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 9am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 819 Cathedral Road, Philadelphia.  A funeral Mass will follow at 10am.  Interment is at Holy Sepluchre Cemetery at 3301 West Cheltenham Avenue, Philadelphia.

Larry had a passion for assisting our wounded veterans.  Before his passing, he requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to the Wounded Warriors Project - www.woundedwarriorproject.org
