Joseph W. Glodek, formerly of Roxborough, passed away on January 26, 2022 at the age of 100. Beloved husband of Julia (nee Pipala) Glodek for 78 years. Devoted father of Karen Arlinghaus and Michele Cesena (preceded in death by his sons-in-law, John C. Arlinghaus and Joseph G. Polzer). Son of the late Walter Glodek and Sophie (nee Lagowski) and loving brother to Becky Johnston and the late Henry, Stanley, Frank Glodek, Mary Lemonowicz and Nellie Posluszny. Grandfather to Erin McIntosh (Michael), Kelly Arlinghaus, and Carlos Cesena (Bari Pollock), Anthony Polzer (Laura), and Christopher Polzer (Shera). Great-grandfather to McKenna and Parker McIntosh and Mia and Ella Polzer.

Joe was born in Belmont Hills. He played basketball for Roxborough High School and other local leagues including the Wissahickon Hawks. He served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Machinist 3rd Class aboard the aircraft carriers the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, the USS Boxer, and the USS Charger during WWII. Joe worked for the US Postal service as a letter carrier in the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia for many years before retiring. He was an avid golfer and frequently played at the Walnut Lane Golf Course, right across the street from where he lived for 70 years. He enjoyed swimming at the Roxborough YMCA with his friends during the week. Joe was also a member of the VFW, 21st Ward Senior Group and Interac.

Those who knew and loved Joe will remember him as a dedicated, hardworking man who treasured his relationships with his family and friends, and who never failed to make those around him smile.
