Obituary

John "Jack" Richardson, 56, died peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on June 9, 2021. Jack was born and raised in Roxborough and was the youngest of six children born to Vesta Lee and Margaret "Peg" (Beck). He enjoyed taking a hands-on approach to life. He was everyone's go-to person when they had to move and was the first to offer a helping hand whenever someone needed help with home renovations. He spent his free time working on cars, camping, going to concerts, barbecuing, canoeing, and doing what he loved most, fishing. Jack loved to go out on an early boat ride and go fishing whenever he could, and he spent his last day doing just that - fishing off the coast in Atlantic City. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. Jack was a passionate Philadelphia Eagles fan (Go Birds!) and enjoyed making a big pot of chili and having friends over for their games. He worked for The Metropolitan Apartments in Roxborough for the last 15 years as their maintenance supervisor and took great pride in his work. Jack is survived by his mother Margaret, wife Roberta (Kingkiner), and his sons Jacob and Joshua. He is also survived by brothers Charles (Priscilla), Jerome (Kathy) and sisters Connie Reisen (Rick) and Joanne Lapent (Joseph Jr.), as well as many nieces and nephews who will miss him tremendously. Jack is preceded in death by his father Vesta Lee and his brother, Dennis Richardson. Jack also leaves behind a neighborhood full of friends; no one was a stranger to him. Jack was the most selfless, humble, loyal, caring person you could ever meet. He devoted his life to his friends and family and he would do anything for anyone without hesitation. He truly was one in a million and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him and called him their friend. Relatives and friends are invited to Viewing on Sunday, June 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Koller Funeral Home, 6835 Ridge Ave., Philadelphia. A Funeral Service will follow at 8 p.m. Interment Private.
