John E. Davis, Sr. passed away on April 22, 2024 at the age of 73. Husband of 50 years to Rosemarie (nee Colubriale) Davis. Father to John E. Davis, Jr (Katherine), Timothy M. Davis (Kathleen), Stacy M. Serwinski (Paul Jr.). Grandfather to Lindsey, Paul III, and Ian. Son to the late George and Mamie Davis. Brother to Sandy Ems and the late George Davis and Carol Adams. John is survived by nieces and nephews. John was active with numerous community youth sports, nonprofits, and church groups in Roxborough throughout his life. A Roxborough High School Class of '69 alumni and long-standing member and trustee of Emmanuel United Methodist Church which later merged with Green Lane United Methodist Church. John enjoyed coaching over the years for youth Soccer and Tee Ball teams for the Indians Athletic Association. He was a much loved coach and team manager for multiple intramural baseball and girl's softball teams of the 21st Ward Junior League. John was added to the Summit Chapter Sports Hall of Fame for his many years of service to the youth of the Roxborough community. John was a member of the Roxborough Ridge Runners Car Club and served as club president for many years. He enjoyed being a part of our neighborhood businesses' growth through the Roxborough Development Corporation. John and his wife Rosemarie have been proud owners of J. Davis Printing for 24 years. John also supported the Manayunk/Roxborough Arts Center and Friends of Gorgas Park. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing at Koller Funeral Home, 6835 Ridge Ave. from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 26th. Another viewing will be held on Saturday, April 27th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. which will precede a service. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Friends of Gorgas Park, 7109 Ridge Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19128 or to Green Lane United Methodist Church, 470 Green Lane, Philadelphia, Pa 19128.
