It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James J. Moore, Sr. who departed this life on July 16, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on June 19, 1958, in Philadelphia, PA, Jim was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. He spent his life in Philadelphia, where he touched many lives through his work and community involvement.
Jim was a dedicated painter, proudly serving the Philadelphia School District for over 30 years, during which he ascended from painter to foreman, demonstrating his unwavering commitment and work ethic. His passion for his craft and dedication to his job were evident in all he did, leaving a lasting impact on the schools he helped maintain.
A faithful member of Saint David's Church in Manayunk, Jim found joy in his faith and community. He cherished the simple pleasures in life, from spending time with family to enjoying a round of golf. He was a family man at heart, survived by his children, Kelly Brown (Matt), James Jr. (Tina), and Elizabeth Startzel (Steve). Jim was also a proud grandfather to Emma, Matthew, Gabriel, Riley, Aaron, Gavin, Eric, and Shaun, who brought immense joy and light to his life. In addition to his immediate family, Jim is also survived by his sister, Kathleen Schreiber, along with the mother of his children, Kathleen Moore, his companion, Joanne Bradley, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved pets who will remember him fondly. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Georgiana Moore, and his siblings, William and Florence, who he thought of often with great love.
Jim's life will be celebrated by those he leaves behind. He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the love he spread to all around him.
