James Barry Donovan, 82, of Roxborough, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 29, 2021.  He was the beloved husband of Eileen (nee Cahill), father of James Barry (Jane), Beth Anne, Matthew, Jeanine Donovan, and Susan Williamson (Jason).  "Pop" was adored by his seven granddaughters: Alyssa, Kathryn, Molly, Clare, Quinn, Emma and Ava.  He was the brother of Thomas Donovan, Christine Rubisch and Kathy Bandish.  He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

James Barry was a graduate of Roman Catholic High School in 1957.  He was a Philadelphia Firefighter for over 17 years.  He was promoted as a Lieutenant in 1975 and Assistant Fire Marshal in 1981.

He was our family historian.  He loved to read and instilled in all of us a love for music and literature.  He shared his love of nature with his children and grandchildren.  Our father will forever be in our hearts.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Wednesday, August 4th at St. John the Baptist Church, 146 Rector Street, Philadelphia PA at 9:30 am.  A funeral mass will follow at 11am.  Interment in Calvary Cemetery.
