Mr. George Carr, age 94, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2021. George was born in Philadelphia, PA to George Carr and Mary (nee Ankerson) Carr. He served in the United States Navy in World War II. He also retired from the Philadelphia Police Department and Lower Merion School District. He was preceded in death by his wife Jane M. (nee McCormick) Carr, and sisters Mary Kohler and Josephine Reed. George was the loving father of Dennis (Anne) Carr and Sister Jane Mary Carr, IHM, devoted Grandfather of Keri McGaughey, Colleen (Chrissy) Carr, and Carolyn (Patrick) Durkin. He was also the Great Grandfather of Matthew and Ryan McGaughey, Madeline and Owen Carr, and Liam Durkin. There will be no public viewing but a funeral mass will be held at St. John the Baptist (119 Rector Street) on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 10:30 AM. Interment will be private. The family asks that all Covid-19 safety and social distancing guidelines be followed during services.
