Dr. Eleanor Walls (nee Jenkins) passed away peacefully with family by her side on March 7, 2020.  She was 74 years old.

Eleanor was a graduate of Saint Hubert's High School (1963) and Neumann College (1968).  She received her Master's in Education (1977) and Ph.D in Educational Psychology (1986) from Temple University.  Eleanor had a long, illustrious career in public education. She served the children of Philadelphia as a classroom teacher, and then, as a well-loved principal at D. Newlin Fell Elementary in Philadelphia from 1989 until her retirement in 2013. She also served as an adjunct professor at St. Joseph's University and Temple University.  Eleanor was a recipient of the Rose Lindenbaum Principal's Award in 1997 and was recognized by the School District of Philadelphia for leading an outstanding science program at D.N. Fell Elementary.

Eleanor loved basketball and some of her favorite early memories involved playing on the Saint Hubert's basketball team. She was a voracious reader and a proponent of art in education.  Eleanor and her husband, Daniel Walls, Esq., were frequent patrons of the Philadelphia Orchestra and The Met in New York City. She believed the arts were essential, and imparted her love of music, theater, and the written word to her children and grandchildren.  She was an active mother and grandmother, playing board games, completing art projects, and taking them on trips to museums in the Philadelphia area.

Eleanor is survived by her husband, Daniel, children Elizabeth, Andrew, preceded in death by Michael. She is also survived by her brother, Dennis Jenkins (Maureen); grandchildren David and Matthew, and many nieces and nephews.  Eleanor will also be remembered by the many faculty, friends, and students she inspired. Her humor, wry wit, and classic style will live in our hearts forever.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Viewing on Saturday, March 14 at 9:00 AM, followed by a memorial at 11:00 AM at Koller Funeral Home, 6835 Ridge Ave., Philadelphia.  Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre following the service, where Eleanor will be laid to rest beside her beloved son.
