It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edna Ruth Ashcom, devoted homemaker and cherished matriarch, who left this world on September 10, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on August 28, 1939, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Edna lived a life filled with love and dedication to her family.

Edna was the loving wife of the late David C. Ashcom and a nurturing mother to five children: David K. (LuAnne), Timothy S. (Ingrid), Linda Szypula (the late James), Kenneth E., and John E. (Kristen). Her legacy lives on through her 15 grandchildren-David, Jason, LeAnna, Sharon, Daniel, Keith, Kristen, Kayla, Andrew, Matthew, Sarah, Kenneth, Charlie, John, and Jake-as well as 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her beloved parents, Francis and Gladys Harcher, and her siblings, Betty Wilson, Bill Harcher, and Steve Harcher. Despite these losses, Edna thrived in her role as the heart of her family, always putting their needs first. She was known for her infectious love of life, especially her enthusiasm for soap operas, ensuring she never missed an episode.

In her quiet, nurturing way, Edna had a profound impact on the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be remembered for the warmth and joy she brought into the lives of her family members, as well as her unwavering spirit.

Funeral services and interment will be held privately, at the request of the family. Edna's memory will forever live on in the hearts of her loved ones, as they carry forward the values and love she instilled in them throughout her remarkable life.
