Andrew James
Dormer
Aug 3, 1963 — Jun 12, 2025
Andrew "Andy" James Dormer passed away suddenly on June 12, 2025 at the age of 61 after a tragic accident. He is survived by his fiancée Elizabeth Blair and children Sabrina M. Dormer (Michael Curry) and Andrew J. Dormer, Jr. (Lauren Poli). Son of the late Robert and Marie (nee Grasmeder) Dormer. Brother of Robyn Dormer, Michael Dormer (Kristina), and the late John Dormer (Marianne) and Thomas Dormer (Dorene). Uncle to nieces Katie and Marie Dormer. Andy is also survived by his best friend, Brian Pilz, his beloved dog, Scooter and cat, Cookies.
Andy was 1 of 5 children in the Dormer household in Northeast Philadelphia. The Dormers were friends with everyone on the block and the boys spent every night outside until the street lights came on. Andy went to St. Martin of Tours and Cardinal Dougherty. He then went to Lincoln Tech where he started in baking but then switched to automotive. He spent almost his entire career working with cars, but he could never quite pick a place to stay. He worked for BMW for 23 years as well as Subaru, Century Auto Body, Midas, Campers World RV, and his own shop.
Andy was passionate about so many things in life that it is difficult to list them all here. He loved animals, he went to sleep every night with Scooter by his legs and Cookies by his head. He fed wild deer and squirrels straight from his hand. He loved to ride his bicycle, he rode in many Ben to the Shore marathons. He loved to camp, although with all of the equipment he had it was really more of glamping. He was an avid collector of many things including pins, department 56 houses for his Christmas village, halloween decorations, cars (both real and toy), and coins. He was a huge fan of the Phillies, Eagles, and Nascar. But above anything else, Andy's biggest passion in life was being a dad.
Please remember Andy by sharing the silliest, corniest jokes you can find, drinking a fountain soda with ice in it, and having fun no matter what life throws at you.
