Michael C. Foley unexpectedly July 24, 2017, of Lafayette Hill, age 73. Dear husband of Mary Ann (nee Clauss); loving father of Patrick M. Foley (Heather), Molly M. Harrington (Brian), Shannon F. Henn (Jeremy), Ryan P. Foley (Sarah) and Erin M. Bradley (Anthony), also adored by 8 grandchildren; Jack, Charlie, Caroline, Hugh, Taylor, James, Mickey and JoJo; and brother of James M. Foley (Sally) and Marigrace (Mead) McCabe.
Mike graduated from LaSalle College High School in Wyndmoor, PA and recieved a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
Mike began his investment career at Butcher & Singer in 1972 and was an executive at Pennsylvania Merchant Group as well.
In 1992 he was Chief Executive Officer of Foley Mufson Howe & Company, a research and investment banking boutique. Through the asset purchase of FMH he became Senior Vice President and Director/Capital Markets of Janney Montgomery Scott LLC. In 2001 he became Executive Vice President and Director of Janney’s Private Client Group, with responsibility for approximately 1000 Financial Consultants in 75 offices.
Mike has been a Director of public and private companies, in the US and the UK, and served as Chairman of the Mid-Atlantic District of the Securities Industry Association, President of the Bond Club of Philadelphia, and Governor of the Philadelphia Securities Association
In 2001, Mike achieved the most important title of his life…Pop-Pop. Mike enjoyed painting, reading, all things Villanova and the Sunday New York Times. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
