Early Sunday morning, January 12, 2020 Dorothy (Dottie) DiGiovanni of Belmont Hills passed away at age 90 at Lankenau Hospital.
Dottie was the third child born to Robert and Emma (Cole) Pennington November 21, 1929 in Altoona PA. She was married to Ralph G. DiGiovanni for 48 years before his passing in 2003. Dottie graduated from Altoona High School in 1947 and excelled in playing the violin. She was the concertmaster of the Altoona High Orchestra and was also selected as concertmaster of the prestigious Altoona Symphony Orchestra. Dottie received a nursing degree from Bryn Mawr Nursing School in 1953. She left nursing to raise her 4 children and eventually returned to Lankenau Hospital for 24 years before finally retiring.
Dottie is survived by her 4 children, Ralph G. DiGiovanni lll (Harriett), Lisa M. Staton, Craig A. DiGiovanni, Kevin L. DiGiovanni, her 9 grandchildren, Allison, Joie, Samantha, Dara, Alexis, Taylor, Corinne, Olivia and Gabriel and great grand children Jaxon and Max. She is also survived by her younger brother Jude Pennington and sister in law Marie (DiGiovanni) Hanlon.
Dottie was a devoted mother to her children and family, loved sewing, her animals, food, wine, playing Sequence and going to her Margate beach home. Dottie was especially known for her passion of the Stock Market. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, February 7 from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. John Vianney Church, 350 Conshohocken State Road, Gladwyn. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Interment in Westminster Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA, 19 E. Ridge Pike, PO Box 222, Conshohocken, PA 19428-0222.
